On The Move Again

March 28 through April 4, 2010

On Palm Sunday, March 28 Courtney and Cassandra were baptized. I attached a few pictures of the event.

After Easter services we went to Courtney’s Grandparents for Dinner. I attached a few pictures of the table settings. There is always a crowd and plenty to eat. I provided two casseroles of my homemade Mac & Cheese. No leftovers to take home.

April 5 through April 13, 2010

We are on the move again and left on April 5th for Texas. We will be staying in Rockport until April 16. The weather has been rather nice at times a little humid, partly cloudy and windy.

On Saturday, April 10 we went to the Texas Maritime Museum, which was rather interesting. We was going to go to the Sand Sculpture Fest but the lines to get on the Ferry were long so we thought that we would wait until Sunday. We had stopped by the Chamber of Commerce to see what else was in the area to see. The lady there told us that if we just wanted to see the Sculptures and wanted to take a chance that it didn’t rain to wait until Monday and go over to see them. The Fest was running from Friday to Sunday and was suppose to get over a thousand people attending. Sounded like a good idea and it worked out beautifully for picture taking. No crowds to put up with and we got some good shots of the sculptures.

On Sunday, April 11 we went to see The Big Tree in Goose Island State Park by Lamar, Texas.

On Monday, April 12 had gone over to Port Aransas to see the Sand Sculptures. We also stopped by a Birding area to check it out. A few pictures attached from both.

Today, Tuesday, April 13 we drove around the area here in Fulton/Rockport to check it out and see what else is around. Didn't really find anything of interest so we went back to Port Aransas to the Beach again.

Friday, Jan 15, 2010 & Saturday, Jan 16, 2010

Left Tucson and headed to Benson for St. David RV Park to spend 4 days.

Took a drive down to Tombstone to walk the streets, check out the shops and tour the Cochise County Court House.

On this day we took a tour of the Titan Missile Museum (website: titanmissilemuseum.org), which was rather interesting. After the tour we decided to have lunch so went looking for a place to eat. We found this 50’s cafĂ© and decided to give it a try. This was a very interesting place and good food.
Then we stopped to see the San Xavier Mission, which is open to tourist to go through and of course visit their gift and crafts shops.

This afternoon we went to Tohono Chul Park (website: www.tohonochulpark.org). This is a neat park which combines Art, Culture, and Nature together.

(Picture of Larry being retired)

I love meandering through the different nature trails and seeing all of the different vegetation and cactuses. In one of the garden areas there was a lovely blue vase with a stone wall with one of Stanley Horowitz quotes. “Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.”

Arrived at Tucson after lunch time and stayed at South 40 RV Park. Everyone was so relieved to be stopped for awhile, especially the cat. The cat meows and carries on during the morning ride and then after we have stopped and had lunch she seems to settle down some. We had tried covering up the carrier to see if that helps but not really. Guess I’ll have plenty of time to figure out a solution.

Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010

Started loading up the 5th wheel and finished up this morning. We waited for the temperature to warm up before heading out at 11:30 am. Onyx (my cat) knew that something was up and was trying to hide. Found HER!! Headed east down HWY 66 to I-25 South for warmer weather.

Just Waiting

Hi Everyone,

We are waiting for the cold snap and snow to pass this week before we head out on our travels. Larry has been getting things ready for the trip and I have been relaxing for now. I'll be plenty busy when we load up the 5th wheel.

This is Just the Beginning

This is my first attempt at doing a blog. The reason for this is to share our Travel Adventures with our family, friends and fellow co-workers. We have both retired and decided to take a few trips throughout the year. I will miss seeing all of my wonderful co-workers but know that I can pop in an visit them every once in awhile and maybe share lunch.

Being retired hasn't really hit me yet but I do know that it will later. One thing for sure is I won't miss the snowy drives into work during the winter months of Colorado.
